About
Johanna Nelles developed her passion for photography early on, which she nurtured throughout the years while building a career in women’s rights. She is captivated by the intricate shapes and forms found in nature, as well as those that tell a tale of modern-day human presence. Perspectives easily overlooked, stunning in their beauty, catch Johanna’s attention wherever she is. Reflections and the poetic delicacy of decomposing matter are at the heart of her work. Beyond revealing the elegance of the forms, shapes and abstractions found all around us, Johanna has a keen interest in the convergence between human rights work and photography.
After a decade of not shooting, she dusted off her equipment and is currently working on different projects, new and old, including one inspired by her recent stay in Montreal.
Lives and works in Strasbourg, France.
